Crude prices plunge, stocks surge as US and Iran agree ceasefire

Peru votes on Sunday to elect its ninth president in a decade, with crime-weary voters seemingly poised to extend the tide of conservative governments sweeping Latin America. 

From the Amazon to the Andes, about 27 million Peruvians are obliged to vote in a race that features a media baron, an autocrat's daughter, and a hardline ex-mayor who likens himself to a cartoon pig. 

"I wouldn't vote for anyone. I'm so disappointed with everyone in power," clothing merchant Maria Fernandez, 56, told AFP. 

"We've been governed by nothing but corrupt, thieving scoundrels."

Voters will mark ballots that are almost half a meter long and feature a head-scratching 35 presidential candidates. 

Hours before polls open, many voters are still undecided and unconvinced. 

Pre-election surveys show no candidate polling above 15 percent, far short of the 50 percent needed to win outright. Barring an upset, a June runoff seems all but certain. 

Conservative candidates dominate -- according to pollsters at Ipsos there is just one leftist in the top five, former trade and tourism minister Roberto Sanchez.

Right-wing candidates have tried to outdo each other with extreme promises to kill hitmen and lock up delinquents in snake-ringed jungle jails. 

In the last decade, Peru's homicide rate has more than doubled.

And the number of extortion cases reported to Peruvian police jumped more than eightfold from 3,200 to 26,500 a year -- and that is unlikely to be the full total.

- Familiar name -

On the eve of the vote, frontrunner Keiko Fujimori told AFP that she would "restore order" in her first 100 days and would forge a united front with recently elected conservative leaders in Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, and Bolivia. 

"We will ask for special powers -- powers to modernise police stations, and powers for the Armed Forces to help us control the prisons," she told AFP in Lima. 

"The Armed Forces will participate alongside the National Police in controlling the borders. We will expel undocumented citizens," she said, echoing hardline policies that are gaining political traction across the Americas.

This is Fujimori's fourth tilt at the presidency. In previous campaigns, she has distanced herself slightly from the legacy of her father, former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori.

His government crushed a bloody leftist insurgency in the 1990s. 

Courts found that he had directed death squads and was guilty of crimes against humanity, bribery, and embezzlement. He spent 16 years in jail.

This time round, Fujimori junior has capitalized on growing nostalgia for her father's strongman leadership. 

"I believe that time and history are giving my father the place he deserves," she said. 

Signalling plans to forge close relations with US President Donald Trump, Fujimori said, "my role, if elected president, will be to encourage the United States to once again participate more actively." 

She faces a challenge from former Lima mayor Ricardo Belmont, 80, who, despite having run the capital for five years, has pitched himself as an outsider. 

He has made a late surge in the polls thanks to a large TikTok following. 

"He's collecting votes from left to right, like Pac‑Man," said Patricia Zarate of the Institute of Peruvian Studies. 

Also in the running is TV comedian Carlos Alvarez and Rafael Lopez Aliaga, a far-right ex-Lima mayor who has promised to "hunt" Venezuelans and refers to himself as "Porky".

Sociologist David Sulmont told AFP the elections show "a major disconnect" between the public and what politicians are offering. 

Incumbent Jose Maria Balcazar, interim president for less than two months, is barred from running. 

Polls open at 7:00am local time (noon GMT) at 5:00pm (2200 GMT) Church bells will ring, signaling the polls are closed and some religious sites will reopen. 

The election will also decide the makeup of Peru's congress, which has been instrumental in removing several leaders from office.

Inter Miami's hopes of securing a first victory at their new Nu Stadium were frustrated once more on Saturday after Red Bull New York came from behind to snatch a 2-2 draw.

A week after Lionel Messi and Miami were held to the same score by Austin FC in their opening game at their new home, New York's youthful line-up became the latest side to get a result at the same venue.

New York quieted the home crowd after just 15 minutes, when superb work from 18-year-old striker Julian Hall down the right stretched the Miami defence.

Hall dragged away two defenders before squaring for an unmarked Jorge Ruvalcalba who swept a low finish beneath Miami goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair.

But Miami drew level on the stroke of half-time when Argentine forward Matero Silvetti finished from close range from Rodrigo De Paul's cross.

Miami looked to be taking control after half time, and defender Maxi Falcon should have made it 2-1 but sent a free header wide of the post from De Paul's corner.

Messi and Silvetti both had chances go begging before Miami took the lead on 55 minutes through Argentine-born Mexico international forward German Berterame.

Berterame collected a pass which deflected off New York's 17-year-old midfielder Adri Mehmeti and shot low to make it 2-1.

New York thought they had equalized midway through the half when Robert Voloder bundled in a low finish only for the goal to be ruled out for offside after a VAR review.

The New York equalizer finally arrived in the 77th minute, when a twisting turning run inside the area from Hall tormented the Miami defence before he squared to fellow teenager Mehmeti, who slid to finish for 2-2.

Miami pressed furiously in the closing stages, and only a sensational diving save by Ethan Horvath prevented Messi from snatching a winner with a free kick in stoppage time.

The draw leaves Miami in third place in the Eastern Conference standings, four points behind leaders Nashville, 2-1 winners over Charlotte on Saturday.

US Vice President JD Vance said Sunday that talks with Iran failed to reach an agreement, saying he was leaving after putting forward a "final and best offer".

Vance signalled that he was still giving time to Iran to consider the offer from the United States, which on Tuesday said it would pause attacks with Israel for two weeks pending negotiations.

"We leave here with a very simple proposal, a method of understanding that is our final and best offer. We'll see if the Iranians accept it," Vance told reporters after 21 hours of talks in the Pakistani capital Islamabad.

Vance said that the core dispute was on nuclear weapons. Iran insists it is not pursuing an atomic bomb, and the United States and Israel bombed sensitive Iranian sites both in the war launched on February 28 as well as last year.

"The simple fact is that we need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon," Vance said.

"The simple question is, do we see a fundamental commitment of will for the Iranians not to develop a nuclear weapon -- not just now, not just two years from now, but for the long term?

"We haven't seen that yet. We hope that we will."

AI industry insiders want workers to code smarter, think harder and lean into their humanity -- but still dodge the question of how many jobs artificial intelligence will destroy.

The reassurance rang out across HumanX, a four-day conference drawing some 6,500 investors, entrepreneurs and tech executives, even as a blunt advertisement at the entrance set the tone: "Stop hiring humans."

On the main stage, May Habib, chief executive of an AI platform called Writer, told the audience that Fortune 500 bosses are having a "collective panic attack" on the subject.

The anxiety is well-founded. More and more companies are directly citing AI in announcing job cuts.

High-profile examples are on the rise: Salesforce laid off 4,000 customer support workers, saying AI now handles 50 percent of its work.

Block chief Jack Dorsey announced plans to cut the company's headcount nearly in half, citing "intelligence tools" that have fundamentally changed how companies operate.

Not all claims have gone uncontested -- some economists say firms are pointing to AI to rationalize layoffs that are really about past overhiring or cost-cutting ahead of massive infrastructure investments.

OpenAI's Sam Altman has spoken of "AI-washing," and most speakers at the San Francisco event similarly dismissed the invocation of AI as a false pretext for job cuts -- even as they freely predicted disruption was just around the corner.

AI is going to "transform every single company, every single job, every single way that we do work," said Matt Garman, chief executive of cloud computing giant Amazon Web Services.

- 'Pretty unsettling' -

The debate remains heated. Two years ago, Nvidia chief Jensen Huang declared that the ultimate goal was to make it so "nobody has to program" or code.

"We will look back on that as some of the worst career advice ever given," Andrew Ng, founder of training platform DeepLearning.AI, shot back on Tuesday.

In his view, coding is not an obsolete skill -- AI has simply made it available to more people.

Another argument has taken hold in Silicon Valley: interpersonal skills will become more valuable than ever, with some voices going so far as to tout a humanities education as sound tech career preparation.

"As AI can do more of a job, the things that will distinguish and differentiate a given employee are going to be the human skills -- critical thinking, communication, teamwork," said Greg Hart, chief executive of training platform Coursera, which has seen enrollment in its critical thinking courses triple over the past year.

Florian Douetteau, chief executive of Dataiku, a French company specializing in enterprise AI, agreed. 

The real human added value, he told AFP, is the "capacity for judgment."

He described a world in which an AI agent works through the night, its human counterpart reviews the results in the morning, and then the agent resumes working autonomously during the lunch break.

But the entrepreneur nevertheless expressed unease. 

"We are going to have a generation of people who will never have written anything from start to finish in their entire lives," he said. "That's pretty unsettling."

- 'Mistake was not preparing' -

All of this advice risks ringing hollow for a generation already struggling to land a first job.

AI has automated entry-level tasks that once served as on-the-job training. Hiring of candidates with less than one year of experience fell 50 percent between 2019 and 2024 among America's major tech companies, according to a study by investment fund SignalFire.

"We should be preparing for the loss of knowledge work jobs in a number of categories," warned former US vice president Al Gore.

As the week's lone genuinely dissenting voice, Gore called for a real action plan to map threatened jobs and prepare workers for career transitions, so as not to repeat the mistakes of the globalization era.

"The mistake was not globalization. The mistake was in not preparing for the consequences of globalization," he said, drawing a parallel with the deindustrialization that followed the offshoring wave of the 2000s.

"Maybe we don't want to talk about it," he added, "because it may slow down the enthusiasm for the technology."

Democrats are growing bullish about a possible "blue wave" in November's US midterm elections, buoyed by eye-catching local votes that suggest a backlash against President Donald Trump may be spreading beyond the party's usual strongholds.

From a staunchly conservative congressional district in Georgia to a mayoral contest in Wisconsin and state legislative races across the South, Democrats have consistently beaten recent benchmarks -- often by double digits. 

Analysts caution that special elections and off‑year contests are imperfect predictors, yet the breadth and consistency of the swings have sharpened Republican anxieties and revived memories of the 2006 and 2018 wave elections. 

"It certainly looks like a blue wave is not only possible, but probable. Democrats continue to overperform and expand their margins," said political analyst Andrew Koneschusky, a former Democratic Senate aide. 

"If the overperformance holds, it could mean Democrats pick up 40 or more House seats in November."

The clearest sign of Democratic gains came this week in Georgia, where a race to fill the House seat vacated by estranged former Trump ally Marjorie Taylor Greene saw the Republican margin cut to 12 points in a district the president carried by 37. 

In Wisconsin, liberal-backed judge Chris Taylor crushed her conservative rival by 20 points in a state supreme court race, while Democrats also won the mayor's office in Waukesha, long a Republican bastion.

- 'Few competitive seats' -

The broader record since Trump's 2024 win has been similarly encouraging for Democrats, who have improved their vote share by an average of 13 points in congressional special elections. 

Democrats have flipped dozens of Republican-held state legislative seats while Republicans have flipped none. 

In the US House of Representatives, Republicans hold a tiny four-seat majority and an election night even modestly favorable to Democrats would likely flip the chamber.

The overperformance now showing up nationwide points to much larger gains -- along the lines of Koneschusky's estimate, or perhaps the 2006 cycle, when the Iraq war soured voters on Republicans and helped Democrats gain 31 seats. 

Democratics argue that Trump has saddled his party with a similarly unpopular conflict in the Middle East, exposing it to the political cost of higher gas prices, economic unease and another foreign entanglement many voters never wanted.

"There will be a blue wave, but not powerful enough to surf on," said political analyst Donald Nieman, who predicted a Democratic majority in the House of around 10 seats. 

"That's because American politics remain polarized, most voters have picked sides, and there are so few competitive seats -- in fact, only about 60."

The Senate remains a harder target but no longer looks fanciful to Democrats. 

They need four seats to win back the chamber, and party leaders have highlighted North Carolina, Maine, Ohio and Alaska as the most plausible path. 

- 'Vision' -

For Trump, losing Congress would carry heavy consequences. 

A Democratic legislature could slam the brakes on much of his domestic agenda and complicate efforts to fund or sustain foreign conflicts, including through war powers votes or resistance to large spending packages. 

It would also regain subpoena power, opening the door to corruption investigations, scrutiny of administration conduct and aggressive oversight.

Still, Washington watchers are not treating a Democratic wave as guaranteed. 

Special elections can be imperfect predictors, Republicans continue to enjoy fundraising advantages, and several expert voices caution that anti-Trump sentiment is not the same thing as a broad embrace of Democrats.

Party strategist Caroline Welles, who works to elect first-time Democratic women to state legislatures, said the 13-point swing from 2024 margins across special elections is "reason for us to feel bullish." 

"However, it's important to note that the midterms are over six months away," she added, "and the landscape could totally change by then."

Aaron Cutler, a former House staffer and congressional lobbyist at law firm Hogan Lovells, went as far as suggesting that Republicans could defy historic trends to win the midterms. 

"I also don't think there is a unified Democrat message right now besides 'not them,'" he said. "It's important to sell a vision to the American people."

Shane Lowry became the first player in Masters history with multiple aces in his career, blasting his second hole-in-one at Augusta National on Saturday a decade after making his first.

The 39-year-old Irishman aced the par-three sixth hole in the third round of the Masters, hitting a 7-iron 190 yards.

"It was obviously amazing," Lowry said. "The walk down the sixth hole was very special. I'll remember that for a while."

It was the first Masters ace since 2022 and the 35th in Masters history.

The 2019 British Open champion fired a four-under par 68 to stand fourth on nine-under 207, only two adrift of co-leaders Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young entering Sunday's final round.

"When we get to tomorrow, that's when we'll see what everyone is made of," Lowry said.

"It's a pretty good leaderboard, so it's going to be pretty hard to win this tournament tomorrow, but I'll give it my best."

Lowry, who sank the putt that allowed Europe to retain the Ryder Cup last year at Bethpage, had his first Masters ace in the final round of 2016 at the par-three 16th hole.

"It's pretty cool," Lowry said of the Masters multi-ace milestone. "All you get is two bits of crystal. You don't get much else."

While it might help him win a second major title, Lowry's latest stunner single shot is the latest in a long line of aces for the Irishman, who hit one two weeks ago at the PGA Houston Open.

Lowry aced the famous 17th-hole island green at TPC Sawgrass in the 2022 Players Championship.

He also made a hole-in-one at the seventh hole in the 2024 PGA Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

"Maybe I'm just good," Lowry said. "I don't know."

The latest ace gave Lowry a lift during a wild afternoon at Augusta National that left 11 players within five strokes of the lead.

"It gives you obviously a huge kind of boost," Lowry said. "You go from six-under to eight-under, and then all of a sudden you're only four back. It's getting real.

"I felt like I did a great job of calming myself down afterwards," added Lowry, who pumped his fists in celebration and hugged playing partner Tommy Fleetwood.

"I hit a great tee shot on seven, and I was very happy and proud of that one, because it's easy to get a bit flustered in areas like that. Your adrenaline is pumping."

Lowry's best Masters finish was a share of third in 2022.

Columbia College baseball came out with energy early, jumping to a 3-0 lead in the second inning before Central Baptist battled back to tie the game 3-3 in the third. Columbia quickly responded, regaining the lead in the bottom half and never trailing again.

A key moment came in the fourth when Tyler Renn launched a solo home run to left field to extend the lead, and the Cougars added to it in the fifth on a two-run home run from Zac Fruend. Columbia’s pitching settled in after the third, with a phenomenal performance from Eric Fields, who held Central Baptist scoreless over the final six innings and shut down multiple scoring threats, including a bases-loaded opportunity in the fourth.

Saturday's senior-day win completed the weekend sweep for the Cougars. They took both games of Friday’s doubleheader, including a neck-and-neck 2-1 pitcher’s duel and a 10-0 complete-game shutout by right-hander Parker Anderson.

The Cougars combined solid hitting with strong pitching all weekend. They next compete at 2 p.m. Tuesday on the road at No. 8-ranked Missouri Baptist.

Columbia softball splits doubleheader against Cottey College

The Cougars (20-12) split their doubleheader against Cottey College (24-7) in Pittsburg, Kansas.

In Game 1, Rock Bridge alumnus, graduate student Ella Schouten racked up 11 strikeouts as she completed a complete game shutout to earn her ninth win this season.

Junior Kennedy Schanuth drove in the only two runs of the game on a two-run double in the top of the first to help the Cougars get the win.

Game 2 was another low-scoring affair, as Cottey jumped out to the lead in the first and held onto it through the entire outing with the Comets winning 3-2.

Columbia returns home after a six-game road trip for a doubleheader versus Central Baptist College with first pitch at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Antimi Softball Complex.

Stephens softball drop a pair in doubleheader against Mission

Stephens softball (9-27) was out in Springfield for a doubleheader against Mission (18-10).

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Stars were able to get out to a 2-1 lead in the top of the third when freshman Mylee Hawkins drove in a pair of runs on a single after giving up a run in the first.

The Stars wouldn’t hold the lead for very long though, as they gave up a four-run fourth and the Patriots kept the lead through the rest of the game, winning 6-2.

Game 2 was a lot more back and forth, as Stephens was able to hold the Patriots to just three runs through six innings on some great work by Hickman alumnus, senior Elise Kendrick.

In the seventh, sophomore Landry Bales drove in a run to cut the lead to one, and freshman Addison Flores drove in the tying run on an RBI double to knot the game at 3-3.

The Stars couldn’t force extras though, as they were walked off in the seventh on a line drive single into center for a final score of 4-3.

Stephens will come back to Columbia to take on Crowley’s Ridge in a doubleheader with Game 1 starting at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Stephens Softball Field.

Mizzou soccer picked up a 3-1 win over WashU in Boonville.

The Tigers head into enemy territory when it faces Kansas at 2 p.m. next Saturday in Lawrence, Kansas. 

Columbia lacrosse loses to No. 6 William Penn

Columbia lacrosse hosted No. 6 William Penn with the hopes of getting into the official rankings with a win.

The Cougars were outmatched though, as the Statesmen shut them out in the first half pulling out to a 13-0 lead.

William Penn cruised to a victory from there, beating Columbia 21-5.

The Cougars will go on the road to take on Ottawa University at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday in Ottawa, Kansas.

"Beliebers" were celebrating the return of pop superstar Justin Bieber on Saturday, ahead of his return to major stages with a headlining appearance on the second day of the Coachella music festival.

The Canadian singer of "Sorry" will appear at the event in Indio, California as festival season kicks off in the United States. 

"This is what I've been looking forward to for months," 28-year-old Alexis Sierra said as she entered the venue just after gates opened. 

Held in the scorching California desert, where the beating sun pushed the thermometer to 86 F (30 C) early Saturday, thousands of the "Baby" singer's fans -- known as Beliebers -- took over the festival grounds sporting clothing, hats and banners paying tribute to their idol.

Bieber hasn't performed at a venue of Coachella's size since 2022, when he appeared at Rock in Rio in Brazil before canceling the remainder of his international tour due to health issues.

The singer announced he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a shingles outbreak that can cause facial paralysis.

Over the past year, he's made a gradual return to the scene. 

In 2025, Bieber released the album "Swag." The rollout saw the star perform the single "Yukon" while stripped down to his boxers at the Grammys in February. 

The release was quickly followed by "Swag II," his eighth studio album.

While Bieber has recently played smaller shows, Coachella is expected to mark his full-scale comeback.

"We WILL be singing at the top of our lungs on Saturday," Bieber promised in an Instagram post this week.

- Eclectic offerings -

Other acts in the spotlight Saturday include Nine Inch Noize, the collaboration between legendary industrial band Nine Inch Nails and German producer Boys Noize, who also have an album on the way.

Nate Martin, 24, said they were his main draw to Saturday's show. 

"Industrial, electro combined? Gonna be mental," he told AFP.

With nine stages, the festival will host a wide range of genres, including Brazil's Luisa Sonza, influencer-turned-singer Addison Rae, Britain's PinkPantheress, K-pop star Taemin and David Byrne, the legendary co-founder of the band Talking Heads. 

New York City rockers The Strokes will also be back on stage after a years-long hiatus.

Coachella kicked off Friday with performances from headliner Sabrina Carpenter, Moby, Devo, and surprise appearances from Lizzo, David Lee Roth and HUNTR/X, who performed their Oscar-winning "Golden" alongside KATSEYE.

Carpenter's performance of hits like "Manchild," "Espresso" and "Please, Please, Please" was helped by big-screen stars Sam Elliott, Susan Sarandon and Will Ferrell, who rounded out her 90-minute set.

A hotly anticipated performance from Italian DJ Anyma was canceled, with organizers blaming strong winds that threatened the safety of stage structures.

The festival runs this weekend and next weekend, with a nearly identical lineup, and can be viewed on YouTube.

Rory McIlroy headed for the Augusta National practice range after a disappointing second round erased a six-stroke edge on Saturday and left him tied for the lead at the Masters.

McIlroy fired a one-over-par 73 to stand alongside third-ranked Cameron Young on 11-under 205 entering Sunday's final round, which figures to be a shootout with 11 players five shots back or nearer.

"I have to look at the positives even though there isn't that many," McIlroy said. "I did bounce back. I hit some good shots coming in. I'm in a great position.

"I wish I was a few shots better off, but I'm comfortable.

"I just know I need to be better tomorrow to have a chance."

McIlroy, who had a Masters record six-stroke lead through 36 holes, found himself among the trees off the tee and out of position most of the day, needing wedges and putts to salvage pars tested by swing issues.

"If I can just get my lower body moving through impact, that should sort of fix it," McIlroy said. "But I am going to go and hit a few balls on the range to neutralize the ball flight a bit."

McIlroy wasn't as committed as he should be on every shot.

"It's just having trust in yourself and commitment that you're going to make the swing you want to make," McIlroy said. "I didn't always do that today, but I still felt like I stayed committed to what I was doing, which is a good thing."

McIlroy hopes to become only the fourth player to win back-to-back green jackets after Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Nick Faldo.

"I'd like to think that I'll play a little bit freer and play like I've already got a green jacket, which I do," McIlroy said. "Sometimes I maybe just have to remind myself of that."

McIlroy, playing alongside Young as he did the first two days, felt he answered the challenge posted by firm and fast Augusta National.

"This golf course has a way of, when you're not quite feeling it, you struggle," he said. "You have to dig deep and I felt like I did that on the front nine and made a lot of good par saves."

His approach sailed left at 11 for a double bogey and a missed green at the par-three 12th set up a bogey that briefly handed Young the solo lead.

"When I made the double at 11, I probably got a little bit uneasy on 12 and 13, which I think is understandable," he said. "I bounced back well with birdies on 14 and 15.

"The course was obviously gettable. There was a lot of good scores out there and the quality of the chasing pack is obvious.

"There's a lot of guys in with a chance tomorrow. I'm still tied for the best score, so I can't forget that, but I do know I'm going to have to be better if I want to have a chance to win."

Cameron Young will try to cement his hard-won status among golf's elite with a first major title on Sunday, when he'll start the final round of the Masters tied for the lead with Rory McIlroy.

Young carded an impressive seven-under par 65 on Saturday, his best score in 15 career Masters rounds giving him a 54-hole total of 11-under par and a solid shot at the biggest title of his career.

"It's something I've dreamed of doing for a long time," said Young, who started the day eight shots off defending champion McIlroy's lead and birdied four of the first eight holes.

He rolled in an eight-foot birdie putt at the 10th and produced back-to-back birdies at 13 and 14.

A weak wedge found the water at the 15th, but he followed that bogey with a 27-foot birdie putt at the 16 and briefly held the solo lead as McIlroy faltered behind him.

It's not where he expected to find himself when he bogeyed four of the first seven holes on Thursday.

"If you had said on Thursday at about noon that I was going to be within a couple of the lead going into Sunday, I would have taken it in a heartbeat, especially given the fact that I was watching Rory play," he said.

"We saw today a slow start and a hot start can erase a lot. It's just a matter of keeping myself in it tomorrow and doing the best I can to stay around the lead for as long as possible."

But Young is not surprised to be contending after a "slow buildup" that started with his first PGA Tour title at the Wyndham Championship last August and continued through a strong Ryder Cup showing and a triumph in the Players Championship last month.

"I feel that I've gotten a lot better at just being present in what I'm doing," Young said. "Out here that's so much of the battle.

"You're going to get good breaks, you're going to get bad ones. You're going to hit a bad shot or two. The ability to just swallow it and move on and go hit your next shot, the emotions of it, the frustration, whatever it may be, I think this place really punishes you if you play angry or impatient."

Young has contended in majors before. He has two top-10 Masters showings in the past three years and finished second at the Open Championship in 2022.

He knows that momentum can shift in a heartbeat on Augusta's fiery greens.

He said he'll draw on those experiences, as well has his recent Players victory, but will go out with the mindset that he has to take the title.

"My past results don't dictate what I do tomorrow," Young said. "While I do feel that there's a lot of positive things to take from those events, I've got to go earn whatever I get out of tomorrow, and the best way that I know to do that is kind of try to attack the day like I have the last three."
