The post-draft process rolled on Friday, as Khalil Jacobs joined the New England Patriots roster as an undrafted free agent, according to NFL reporter Joseph Pasteris via X. Jacobs will be the 10th former Tiger to land on an NFL roster in the past 10 days.
New England was interested in Jacobs throughout the pre-draft process, meeting with him at Mizzou’s pro day and hosting the linebacker at its facility for interviews, medical checks and meetings.
Jacobs transferred to Mizzou after spending his first three seasons at South Alabama. In his two years as a Tiger, he played in 19 games while recording 61 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and five sacks. He recorded a career-high 10 tackles this past season in Mizzou’s final home game against Mississippi State.
The linebacker becomes the second Mizzou player on the Patriots roster, joining offensive tackle Marcus Bryant. The two played together in 2024 before Bryant was selected by New England in the seventh round in the 2025 draft.
Xavier Loyd receives invite to Chiefs minicamp
The NFL news continues as former Mizzou wide receiver Xavier loyd will compete at the Kansas City Chiefs’ minicamp. Loyd is the second Tiger to receive an invite to the Chiefs’ camp, joining Triston Newsom.
Loyd is originally from Blue Springs, joining Mizzou in 2025 after transferring in from Illinois State. He started his collegiate career at Kansas State. As a Tiger, Loyd recorded two catches for 21 yards while playing in all 13 games. He played a much larger role at Illinois State, hauling in 66 receptions for 912 yards with six touchdowns.
Loyd and Newsom will compete alongside 40-60 other rookies at the minicamp, looking for their shot to join the league. They aim to join former Tiger Nick Bolton, who is ready to enter his sixth season in Kansas City.
The duo will compete in the rookie minicamp starting on Friday.
