Two Mizzou women's golfers filed lawsuits against the NCAA, hoping to acquire an injunction leading to a fifth year of eligibility.
Addie Dobson and Melanie Walker filed this request Monday in the Circuit Court of Boone County. Both players competed in four seasons with the Tigers and are seeking a fifth year of eligibility in accordance with the "NCAA's adopted five-year model."
Both players are listed on Mizzou's 2026-27 roster, are enrolled in the University this fall and have participated in team practices.
The filing says, "The NCAA nonetheless treats Dobson and Walker as having no additional eligibility because each completed four seasons under prior seasons-of-competition accounting. Its transition chart grants other current athletes whichever eligibility framework is the most beneficial and grants future athletes the new model, but arbitrarily assigns athletes like Dobson and Walker to a category stating 'No additional eligibility,' without individualized evaluation, waiver, appeal or other administrative process."
Dobson, now enrolled as a graduated student, recorded two top-10 finishes last season and qualified for the U.S. Open. She finished 46th in the NCAA Championship, carding a 9 over.
Walker is an undergraduate student from Burke, Virginia who recorded three top-five results last fall. She placed in a tie for 74th in the NCAA Championship.
Mizzou has already seen two prominent fifth-year returners this fall. Men's basketball forward Mark Mitchell and football defensive tackle Sterling Webb both received a year of eligibility after NCAA appeals to their temporary restraining orders were denied earlier this month.
Mizzou women's golf will next compete in its home tournament, the Johnnie Imes Invitational, Monday at The Club at Old Hawthorne. Dobson and Walker do not currently have a date scheduled for their hearing.
The Tigers faced Troy in the third game of the season, winning 27-17. Though they were outgained by the Sun Belt Conference opponent, the Tigers are 3-0 heading into SEC play.
