Mizzou soccer managed only one shot on goal, failing to score in a 3-0 loss to No. 17 South Carolina on Sunday in Columbia, South Carolina.
Landis Canada led the Tigers with two shots, including their lone look on net.
MU goalkeeper Kate Phillips kept the Tigers in the game, making four saves. She gave up only one first-half goal, coming in the 42nd minute. The Gamecocks pulled away by finding the back of the net in the 71st and 80th minutes.
Twenty-one South Carolina players checked into the contest alongside keeper Christina Tsaousis, who played all 90 minutes.
With the loss, Mizzou moves to 3-7-1 on the season, including an 0-4 mark in Southeastern Conference play. The Tigers have not recorded an SEC win in their last 13 conference matches dating back to last season.
The Tigers return to the pitch against Arkansas at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
MIzzou tennis wraps up Husker Invitational with season-best performance
Sunday marked the third and final day of Mizzou tennis' first tournament of the season. It also marked the most successful day for the Tigers so far this year. Out of six matches played, four ended as a win for Mizzou.
Mizzou won 10 matches throughout the three-day tournament, winning three on each of the first two days.
Millie Skelton and Evelyn Whiteside finished the Husker Invitational with a perfect doubles record. On Sunday, the pair beat Kansas' Hyejeong Ahn and Simryn Jacob 8-4.
Both Skelton and Whiteside had flawless records in singles play throughout the tournament. Skelton beat Denver's Ruby Hansen in two sets, dropping one game in the first set and two games in the second. Whiteside fought hard for her win over Meg McCarty. After lost the first set 7-6 to the senior Jayhawk, Whiteside only dropped two games the rest of the match. Two 6-1 wins earned the freshman her third straight win in singles competition.
Leticia Bazan picked up her first collegiate singles win by beating Wichita State's Alina Vysochenko. She dropped the first set 6-3, won the next set 6-3 and then earned a 6-2 win in the third set.
Bazan and Alba Salles Canudas did not fair as well in doubles play. The pair never won a game this tournament, this time losing to a 8-4 pair of Jayhawks, Yerzekhan Arystanbekova and Caroline Manzi.
Salles Canudas lost a grueling singles match to Arystanbekova. She lost the first set 7-5, then lost in a heartbreaking 7-6 set that went 7-4 against her in tiebreakers.
Missouri will next compete in the Charlotte Invite in Charlotte, North Carolina, starting Friday.
