The Southeastern Conference announced Monday that Missouri edge rusher Daeden Hopkins was the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance against Mississippi State on Saturday. The sophomore recorded 3.5 sacks, including one on third down that prevented Mississippi State from extending its lead in the final seconds before halftime.
Hopkins was filling in for Darris Smith, who was ruled out for the game with an ankle injury. Missouri's other starter at the position, Langden Kitchen, exited the game in the first half with an injury.
Hopkins has been one of Missouri's biggest breakout players this season. This is the second time this year he has earned weekly recognition in the conference, having been named the Co-SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for Week 2 alongside Alabama's Devan Thompkins.
Hopkins holds sole ownership of the title for Week 4, even after Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons set the SEC record for the most sacks in a single game, recording five in the Longhorns' win over Tennessee.
After one of the sacks, Simmons drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for a celebration in which he, as the official announced, was, "simulating using the restroom."
Game time still undecided for Mizzou-Texas A&M
Missouri's Week 6 game on Oct. 10 against Texas A&M will kick off at either 11 a.m. or 11:45 a.m. and be broadcast on either ABC or the SEC Network, the conference announced Monday.
The conference will choose between Missouri's game and Florida's Week 6 game against South Carolina for the two options for time and TV network.
The final time and TV designation will be announced following Saturday's games, when Missouri will host Florida.
The game against Texas A&M was originally set in the early window between 11 a.m. and noon. It will be the earliest game for Missouri so far this season.
The Aggies will make the trip to Columbia after hosting Arkansas in Week 5.
Missouri also hosted Texas A&M in 2025, losing 38-17 to the then-No. 3-ranked Aggies.
