Mizzou football has established a strong reputation for sending edge rushers to the NFL, or at least developing them to be NFL-ready whenever that time comes. After losing two very productive starters, one to the transfer portal and the other to the NFL, the need for someone to step up became glaring.

Fortunately for MU, in the ruins of Zion Young being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens and Damon Wilson II transferring to Miami, fifth-year defensive end Darris Smith remained.
