Two former Mizzou football players found new NFL teams after being claimed off waivers Monday. Brady Cook is now a member of the Miami Dolphins while Toriano Pride has joined the Cleveland Browns.
Cook was picked up by Miami after being cut by the New York Jets after playing in all three preseason games. He finished the games 13-for-23 for 165 yards with a passing touchdown.
He was the Jets’ starter for the final four regular season games last season. Cook passed for 739 yards with two touchdowns and seven interceptions with an 0-4 record across those starts. He will join a Dolphins quarterback room that already has Malik Willis and Kyle McCord.
Cook was a three-year starter with Mizzou, racking up over 9,000 passing yards, 1,200 rushing yards and 69 total touchdowns. He helped lead the Tigers to the Cotton Bowl in 2023, finishing the year with 29 touchdowns.
Pride joined the Browns after being released by the Buffalo Bills. He recorded two tackles and a pass deflection in the preseason with Buffalo. He was drafted by the Bills in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Pride is one of six cornerbacks currently listed on Cleveland’s roster.
The cornerback transferred to Mizzou after spending two years at Clemson. Pride racked up 46 tackles, four interceptions and two touchdowns in his two seasons with Missouri.
Schrader, Walker sign with Denver practice squad
Several other former Tigers were cut from NFL rosters Sunday: Joshua Bledsoe from Washington; Stephen Hall from Houston; Xavier Loyd from Kansas City; Albert Okwuegbunam from Las Vegas; Theo Wease Jr. from Miami; and Cody Schrader, Johnny Walker Jr. and Kristian Williams from Denver.
Schrader had a particularly impressive preseason with the Broncos, recording 57 rushing yards, 95 receiving yards and a touchdown. Schrader, along with Walker reportedly signed to play on Denver’s practice squad.
Players have the opportunity to sign with practice squads throughout the league as they get cut this week.
Currently, the Tigers have 24 players in the NFL spread across 17 teams. Week 1 of the NFL season begins Wednesday, Sept. 9 with a Super Bowl rematch between the Patriots and Seahawks.
